BOB DAVIS, BERNIE SMITH and BRUCE MORRISON made their debut for Geelong in Round 1, 1948:

Geelong has good reason to be well satisfied with the performance of the three recruits in the team – Morrison, Smith and Davis. Geelong captain Bob Davis was outstanding player afield, and at full back, when he moved out to half-back, and in the last vital minutes when he threw himself into the thick of the play, he was always outstanding.
